It’s safe to say Colin the Caterpillar is a birthday party staple – like one passionate Marks and Spencer reviewer said “Birthdays are not complete without a Colin the Caterpillar cake.” It’s hard to resist the delicious chocolate log cake covered in smarties.

We’ve come to love it so much as a nation that M&S has even created Connie the Caterpillar, as well as bride and groom versions to enjoy at wedding celebrations. But now the supermarket has delivered what we think might be the best Christmas dessert in history: Christmas Colin the Caterpillar (£10). The cake is embellished with lots of classic festive decorations including, candy canes, holly, and snowflakes, but best of all, Colin is wearing a Santa hat. Because the only thing that screams “celebrate” louder than a caterpillar cake is a caterpillar cake wearing a Santa hat, duh.

Hold tight because it will be available in stores from December (but online now if you’re eager), if you’re on dessert duty this Christmas, Colin will save your wallet and win over every guest when it’s pudding time. We refuse to grow out of Colin the Caterpillar cakes, and if M&S keeps coming up with new versions, we’ll certainly never get bored of him – nor will any of these celebrity fans.
